NASHVILLE, TENN. - With another spectacular season to finish out her career as a Bison, Lipscomb volleyball's Carlyle Nusbaum was named to the AVCA All-South Region Team for the third straight year on Tuesday.
With Nusbaum’s selection, it is the sixth year in a row the Bisons have had someone named to the first team or an honorable mention. She is the only player in Lipscomb history to be selected to the team three times and is one of 17 active players to receive the honor three or more times.
Nusbaum has also qualified for the chance to be selected for the AVCA All-American Team, which will be announced at a later date.
During her senior campaign, Nusbaum proved once again that she was a top performer in the ASUN as she was one of two unanimous selections to the All-ASUN First Team.
The numbers Nusbaum put up this season prove why the Overland Park, Kansas native is deserving of this honor.
She finished the season leading Lipscomb with 436 kills, an average of 4.04 per set, 508.5 total points, an average a 4.71 per set and was second on the team with 327 digs. In conference play, she ranked first in kills per set and points per set while coming in second in kills and points.
On the defensive side of the net Nusbaum was just as impressive. She recorded 15 double-doubles and was third in the ASUN with 23 solo blocks.
Nusbaum also was no stranger to breaking records during her career. She owns the most ASUN player of the week awards with 12. She claimed three player of the week awards during 2018 adding to her record, which she broke in 2017.
In the final game of her career she also became Lipscomb’s all-time kills leader with 1,751. That number ranks second all-time in ASUN history.
Nusbaum is joined on the 14-player team by honorees from Western Kentucky, Kennesaw State, LSU, Florida Atlantic, Auburn, Texas A&M, UNC Charlotte, Arkansas, Florida International and Ole Miss.
