Ebel part of College Volleyball National Team workouts

Billy Ebel spent the last 10 days of June in New Orleans but he didn’t have a lot of time for gumbo or red beans and rice. Ebel was one of the six coaches for the U.S. Collegiate National Team Program working under the direction of Master Coaches Mike Hebert and Ken Preston.

Dr. Emily (Shelton) Medlock didn’t come from Terre Haute, Indiana to Lipscomb to play volleyball because her freshman year there wasn’t a team. But in 1993 it was announced Lipscomb would be competing for the first time in collegiate volleyball the next season and she knew she had to try out. She played for the Lady Bisons for three years.

A-Sun Volleyball Tourney returning to Lipscomb

Lady Bisons back in tie for first place in A-Sun

The Lady Bisons ended their school-record A-Sun winning streak at seven matches and their overall win streak at eight with a 3-2 match loss to Florida Gulf Coast Saturday afternoon at Allen Arena.


Volleyball takes sole possession of first place with 3-0 win over Stetson

The Lipscomb Lady Bisons moved into sole possession of first place in the Atlantic Sun with a 3-0 match win over Stetson Friday night at Allen Arena. It was the seventh straight conference win for the Lady Bisons, a new school record. It was also their eight straight win overall, tying a school record set last season.


Lady Bisons, Eagles Tangle in Match of the Week

MACON, Ga. - Lipscomb and FGCU will face off on Saturday evening inside Lipscomb's Allen Arena in the Atlantic Sun Match of the Week. The Lady Bisons handed the Eagles their only conference loss in 2007, a 3-2 thriller also at Allen Arena.


Volleyball returns home to face Stetson, FGCU

Every weekend has been a big one so far for the Lady Bisons volleyball team. This one is no different, but for one exception. The Lady Bisons are back at home at Allen Arena Friday night at 7 to face Stetson (0-6, 2-11) and Saturday at 5 to play Florida Gulf Coast (6-0, 7-5). The Lady Bisons (6-0, 8-6) have played their last four matches on the road.


Kelly Wins Second Straight Player of the Week

MACON, Ga. - Defending Atlantic Sun Conference Volleyball champion Lipscomb is off to the best conference start in school history in 2008 and Alex Kelly's play is a large reason why. The sophomore continued her stellar play over the weekend in a pair of nail-biting victories that kept the Lady Bisons unbeaten against A-Sun competition.


Volleyball defeats Jacksonville 3-2, remains perfect in A-Sun

The Lipscomb Lady Bisons tied their school-record Atlantic Sun regular season conference winning streak at six matches with a 3-2 win at Jacksonville Saturday evening at Swisher Gym in Jacksonville, Fla. The match was selected as the Atlantic Sun Game of the Week and it lived up to that billing. The two teams had not met since the finals of the A-Sun Tournament, a 3-0 win for the Lady Bisons.


Volleyball starts slowly at North Florida, but rallies to 3-2 win

One streak was stopped, but one remains alive. The Lipscomb Lady Bisons volleyball team ended its string of perfect set scores in Atlantic Sun Conference games at 12, but more importantly they fought back from a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 decision Friday night at North Florida in Jacksonville. The win was their fifth straight in the A-Sun and their sixth straight overall.


Dolphins, Lady Bisons Meet in A-Sun Game of the Week

MACON, Ga. - Lipscomb and Jacksonville will face off on Saturday afternoon inside Jacksonville's Swisher Gymnasium in the Atlantic Sun Match of the Week. The Lady Bisons swept past the Dolphins in the 2007 A-Sun Championship to claim their first conference title. Saturday afternoon's meeting will be broadcast on A-Sun.TV.


Volleyball heads to Florida looking for two more wins

The Lipscomb Lady Bisons are in Florida this weekend, but it isn't going to be a vacation. When they boarded an airplane for Jacksonville Friday evening they carried a five-game winning streak (four in a row in Atlantic Sun games) and a perfect 12-0 record in A-Sun sets in four matches. Friday they will challenge North Florida at 6 and Saturday they face Jacksonville at 4.


Kelly Nabs A-Sun Player of the Week Honor

Lipscomb sophomore Alex Kelly powered the Lady Bisons to two victories last week, running their win streak to five consecutive matches, including four straight to open conference play. One of the top offensive threats in the league in 2008, she was rewarded with her first career Player of the Week honor the conference office announced Monday.


Volleyball downs Campbell 3-0 to improve to 4-0 in A-Sun play

The Lipscomb Lady Bisons are undefeated in Atlantic Sun volleyball matches. With a 3-0 sweep of Campbell Friday night in Buies Creek, N.C., the Lady Bisons won their fourth A-Sun match and remain unbeaten in sets with 12 straight wins. Overall the Lady Bisons, 6-6, 4-0 in the A-Sun, have won five straight matches.


Lady Bisons defeat Evansville 3-2 extending win streak to four matches

The Lipscomb Lady Bisons ended their consecutive set wins streak at 11, but still came away with a 3-2 match win over Evansville Tuesday night in Evansville, Ind. It was the fourth straight match win for the Lady Bisons. After winning set one 25-21 and set two 25-19 the Lady Bisons lost set three 25-19 and set four 25-18. The Lady Bisons held off a late charge by Evansville in set five to prevail 3-2.


Lady Bisons keep win streak alive against USC Upstate

Maybe a broom should replace the Bison as the symbol for the Lady Bisons volleyball team. Saturday afternoon at Allen Arena the Lady Bisons beat USC Upstate 3-0, the third straight time they have swept an Atlantic Sun team this week. The Lady Bisons won set one 25-17, set two 25-15 and set three 25-23.


Volleyball knocks off conference rival ETSU 3-0

The Lipscomb Lady Bisons swept ETSU 3-0 Friday night in Atlantic Sun Conference volleyball action at Allen Arena. It was the second A-Sun match win in a row for the Lady Bisons who also swept Belmont 3-0 Tuesday night. Saturday afternoon at 3 the Lady Bisons continue their homestand at Allen Arena when A-Sun foe USC-Upstate visits.


Lady Bisons sweep past Bruins 3-0 in front of record crowd

Lipscomb and Belmont each received four votes to be the conference tournament champion. But Tuesday night in the A-Sun Game of the Week, the Lady Bisons dispatched the Bruins in three sets. Alex Kelly led the Lady Bisons with 18 kills and Erin Pierce tallied 9 kills for a .615 kill percentage. Lipscomb is back in action Friday night in Allen Arena at 7:00 p.m. against ETSU.


Lipscomb, Belmont to face off Tuesday in A-Sun Game of the Week

Belmont and Lipscomb, the last two teams to win the Atlantic Sun Volleyball Championship, will highlight the opening week of A-Sun play as they renew the Battle of the Boulevard Tuesday night inside Lipscomb's Allen Arena. The “70s Night” action starts at 7:00 p.m. and students and fans are urged to dress in their best fashions of the era.


Volleyball loses 3-0 to Florida International

The Blue Raider Bash wasn't much of a party for the Lipscomb Lady Bisons volleyball team. Saturday afternoon at Alumni Memorial Gym in Murfreesboro they closed out the tournament with a 3-0 loss to Florida International, unbeaten this season in six matches and considered to be one of the up-and-coming teams in the country.


Volleyball falls to No. 15 MTSU 3-0

The Lipscomb Lady Bisons faced their first nationally-ranked team of the season in a 3-0 loss in the first game of the Blue Raider Bash at host Middle Tennessee State University. The Lady Bisons lost 25-19 in set one, 25-16 in set two and 25-21 in set three Friday afternoon at Alumni Memorial Gym in Murfreesboro.


Lady Bisons have rough day in Blue Raider Bash

The Lady Bisons lost their second match of the Blue Raider Bash to Loyola-Marymount with set scores of 19-25, 20-25, 25-23, and 19-25. The Lady Bisons will get one more chance at a win in the tournament Saturday at noon when they face off against Florida International on the campus of MTSU.


Lady Bisons to face top competition in Blue Raider Bash

Lipscomb volleyball coach Brandon Rosenthal always likes his Lady Bisons to face tough competition. And this around he didn't have to go very far to find it. Friday at noon at Alumni Memorial Gym, the Lady Bisons (1-3) will play host Middle Tennessee State (3-0) from the Sunbelt Conference in Murfreesboro. It is the first of three matches in the Blue Raider Bash. MTSU is rated No. 15 nationally in the AVCA poll.


Lady Bisons end APSU win streak with 3-1 decision

Lipscomb's Lady Bisons won their first match of the season, defeating Austin Peay State 3-1 Tuesday night at the Dunn Center in Clarksville. The Lady Bisons also ended Austin Peay's win streak at four matches. The Lady Bisons raised their record to 1-3.


Lady Bisons lose 3-1 to Morehead State

The Lady Bisons volleyball team left Morehead State with a lot of lessons learned, but no match wins. Saturday afternoon the Lady Bisons lost 3-1 to Morehead State, host of the Comfort Inn and Suites Classic, at Wetherby Gym in Morehead, Ky. Sophomore middle blocker Alex Kelly was named to the All-Tournament Team.


Lady Bisons lose season opener to Western Illinois

The Lady Bisons fell 3-2 to Western Illinois Friday afternoon to open the 2008 regular season at the Comfort Inn and Suites Tournament at Morehead State in Morehead, Ky. The Lady Bisons lost the first set 25-21 and fell 25-19 in the second set before rallying to win set three 25-11 and set four 25-16. They lost 15-11 in the fifth set.


Lady Bisons fall 3-2 against Indiana State

The Lady Bisons took the opposition to the limit, but fell short for the second time Friday in the Comfort Inn and Suites Invitational at Morehead State in Morehead, Ky. After losing 3-2 in the first match of the season to Western Illinois, the Lady Bisons fell 3-2 to Indiana State in match two at Wetherby Gym.


Volleyball squad hopes to bounce back Saturday

The outcomes of the first matches of the season were not what the Lady Bisons volleyball team wanted, but tomorrow is another day. The Lady Bisons will be out to bounce back Saturday at 2 p.m. when they face Morehead State the host of the Comfort Inn and Suites Classic in Morehead, Ky.


Volleyball prepares to open season Friday

There is always an element of uncertainty whenever a team opens its regular season, but the Lady Bisons volleyball team heads into this weekend's Comfort Inn and Suites Invitational with limited knowledge of their opponents. The tournament, hosted by Morehead State University in Morehead, Ky., also features Western Illinois and Indiana State. The Lady Bisons play Western Illinois at 1 p.m. Friday at the Weatherby Gym. They play Indiana State later in the day at 4:30.


Volleyball picked highest ever in preseason poll

The Lady Bisons were picked 2nd in the Atlantic Sun preseason poll, the conference office announced Thursday. Sophomore setter Jake Pease was named to the All-Conference team. The Lady Bisons open their season August 29th versus Indiana State in Morehead, Ky.


Rosenthal impressed with early intensity of 2008 team

The Lady Bisons volleyball team took its first official steps towards returning to the NCAA Tournament with practices Saturday and Sunday and three-a-day session Monday. The Lady Bisons open their season on the road August 29 against Indiana State in Morehead, Ky.


Kaiser transfers from Illinois State to play volleyball

Lipscomb coach Brandon Rosenthal has announced the addition of Elly Kaiser, a defensive specialist who has decided to transfer from Illinois State University.
