NORMAL, Ala. – Giving up 25 points on 19 turnovers, the Lipscomb women’s basketball team dropped a 72-54 decision to homestanding Alabama A&M at Elmore Gymnasium in Normal, Ala.
Senior guard Anna Bowers and junior wing Hannah Phillips each posted season highs for the Lady Bisons (0-4) but it would not be enough as Whiquitta Tobar scored 22 for the Lady Bulldogs (1-2). Bowers led Lipscomb with 14 while Phillips added a dozen.
Sophomore wing O’Neisha Smith hauled in a career-high 11 rebounds to lead all players on the boards. Lipscomb lost the rebounding battle overall howver, as Alabama A&M grabbed 44 to Lipscomb’s 39. The Lady Bulldogs also won the turnover battle 19-13.
Alabama A&M also capitalized at the charity stripe converting 23-of-33 free throws while Lipscomb made only 3-of-13 attempts. A&M also outshot the Lady Bisons 42 percent to 37 percent.
The Lady Bisons continue their five-game road trip on Monday at Jacksonville State in Jacksonville, Ala., at 7 p.m.
