NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After spending eight days between games thanks to the Thanksgiving break, the Lipscomb women’s basketball team travels to Murray, Ky. for a 7 p.m. contest with Murray State Monday.
This will mark the second of three-straight games on the road for the Lady Bisons.
The Lady Bisons (0-3) are coming off a 61-41 loss to Texas Tech last Sunday. Freshman Presley Stastny led the Purple and Gold with 13 points while senior Hannah Phillips chipped in 11 points while snagging eight rebounds and dishing out five assists.
For the first time this season, the Lady Bisons out rebounded an opponent as they snagged 35 rebounds, three better than the Lady Raiders.
Murray State enters 2-3, coming off two-straight victories. The Racers earned their second victory of the year Tuesday with a 76-62 triumph over Evansville.
Averaging 66.8 points per game as a team, Mariah Robinson runs the offense to the tune of 21 points per game while Erica Burgess is second with 12.4 points per game.
The Ohio Valley Conference squad out rebounds its opponents by three averaging 48 rebounds a night. Jessica Winfrey snags eight rebounds a game while Robinson cleans up the glass with 7.8 per game.
The Lady Bisons hold a 2-1 edge in the all-time series with Murray State. However, the last meeting between the two schools was won 83-71 by the Racers in 2007.
Following Monday’s game, Lipscomb travels to Ole Miss on Thursday before returning home Saturday for a 6:30 p.m. match against Belmont.
