NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Lipscomb women’s basketball team plays the final home nonconference game of the year hosting fellow Nashville school Tennessee State Tuesday in Allen Arena. Tipoff is slated for 6:30 p.m.
The Lady Bisons are coming off a 93-42 loss to No. 6 Georgia on Sunday. Georgia is the highest ranked team Lipscomb has faced in the NCAA era.
“You are exposed when you play a team that is this good,” Lipscomb head coach Greg Brown said. “Any weakness you have is magnified. We can learn some lessons from it. That is what we are trying to do at this point in nonconference and carry over into conference play.”
Lipscomb continues to be led by senior Hannah Phillips as she averages 12.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. The Lady Bisons have received solid numbers from freshman Presley Stastny at 9.3 points per game and Alex Banks with 4.5 rebounds per game.
Tennessee State enters the contest 3-6 overall and on a three-game skid. The Lady Tigers fell 66-59 to Cleveland State on Sunday, after previously falling to Montana (71-48) and Montana State (65-55).
Led by Simone Hopes at 10 points per game, the Lady Tigers average 54.4 points per game. Hopes also leads the team with 7.4 rebounds a contest.
Lipscomb is 1-7 all-time versus Tennessee State with the lone victory coming in 2008, a 63-55 decision in Allen Arena.
