KENNESAW, Ga. – The Lipscomb women’s basketball team looks to open the second half of the Atlantic Sun schedule with a road win at Kennesaw State on Thursday. The Lady Bisons and KSU will tip at 6 p.m. inside the KSU Convocation Center.
The game can be seen on ESPN3.
Thursday’s meeting will be the 17th in series history, with KSU holding an 11-5 advantage.
The two teams have already met once this season.
On Jan. 9, KSU narrowly escaped Allen Arena with an 82-78 victory. Sara Bliss led the Lady Bisons with 21 points. Danay Fothergill added 18 points and seven rebounds.
Maya Dillard had one of her best games of her freshman campaign, scoring a career-high 16 points while dishing seven assists. She also swiped a career-high four steals.
The Owls proved to be too much behind Kristina Well’s triple-double - 18 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. KSU also sank 12 treys in the game.
Lipscomb enters Thursday’s contest at 3-17 overall, 0-9 in the A-Sun.
The Lady Bisons are coming off an 82-47 home loss to A-Sun co-leader, Stetson. Ashley Southern led Greg Brown’s squad with a seventh consecutive double-double, 14 points and 16 rebounds.
Fothergill paces the Purple and Gold with a 20.0 scoring clip. Southern adds 15.6 points per game, while Chandler Cooper averages 13.7 an outing.
Southern leads the team in rebounding, pulling down 12.3 per contest.
In A-Sun play, Lipscomb has the fourth-best scoring offense at 67.1 per game.
Kennesaw State is 4-16 overall, 2-7 in league play. The Owls are riding a six-game losing streak. The last win came against Lipscomb.
KSU fell 64-59 at Mercer on Saturday and returns home after a three-game road swing.
Wells leads the Owls with a 15.4 scoring average and nine boards per game. Deandrea Sawyers adds 13.6 points per game in 34.5 minutes of play.
In league play KSU is scoring 64 per game while giving up 73.2 points.
Lipscomb will continue its road stretch on Saturday at Mercer.
