Wednesday, August 31, 2005 11/12/2004 Miriam McAlister will continue to wear Lipscomb on her basketball uniform, only next year it will say Lipscomb University instead of Lipscomb High School.
McAlister, a 6-foot-1 post/wing player, has signed to play for Lipscomb Coach Frank Bennett, which means she is will go from being a Lady Mustang to a Lady Bison.
Last season for the Lady Mustangs, McAlister played in 28 games, averaging 12.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. She also blocked 84 shots.
"Miriam is a great addition to Lady Bisons basketball," Bennett said. "She is so versatile. She gives us an athlete with size who can also handle the ball like a guard. She is an outstanding shot blocker and rebounder because she is such a quick jumper."
As a junior McAlister was named to the All-District and All-Region teams.
"Miriam has shown continued improvement over the past year," Bennett said. "Her experience playing in a great high school program at Lipscomb will make for an easier transition to college basketball. Miriam is an outstanding student, a great person and a great leader. She will be a great fit for Lady Bisons basketball." |
