The 2003-2004 season proved to be one of the most exciting seasons in the history of the women's basketball program at Lipscomb University. In just their first season of NCAA Division I eligibility, the Lady Bisons won an impressive 20 games, won the Atlantic Sun Conference championship and competed in the NCAA tournament. It was certainly an exciting year for the Lady Bisons and a great season to build on for the future.
This season's highlights include: The first women's basketball team in NCAA Division I history to make it to the "Big Dance" in their first year of eligibility. The first women's team to win the Atlantic Sun Conference championship in their first year of conference play. Finished as regular season conference co-champions with 14-6 record #1 in Atlantic Sun Conference home attendance--last 6 home games averaged 1,211 fans. The first Lipscomb University sports program to make it to a NCAA tournament Finished the season with a 20-12 record. Coach Frank Bennett (520-266) was voted Atlantic Sun Conference Coach of the Year. Junior Courtney Boynton was named 1st team All-Conference and Sophomore Katie Beth Pate was named 2nd team All-Conference and was the A-Sun Tournament MVP.
