Whenever Lipscomb's Lady Bisons and the University of Memphis meet the game is usually a battle.
It was no different Monday night as the Lady Bisons stayed even with Memphis until the final two minutes of the game in a 57-52 season-opening loss at Elma Roane Fieldhouse.
With the game tied at 48-48 Memphis pulled ahead on a 3-point shot by Victoria Crawford to keep the lead for good.
The first half set the stage for the rest of the game. Memphis held only a 28-27 advantage at intermission.
Both teams shot 42.9 percent from the field in the first half. The Lady Bisons dropped to 28 percent from the field in the second half, for a 34.8 percentage for the game. Memphis shot 37.9 percent in the second half, 40.4 percent for the game.
The Lady Bisons held a huge advantage on the boards, outrebounding Memphis41-28.
Boynton was the only Lady Bisons shooter in double figures with 13 points. She was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line
