Dec. 19, 2005
A depleted roster, combined with the after effects of final exams, were too much for the Lipscomb Lady Bisons to overcome.
Playing their first game since Dec. 3, the Lady Bisons played a mid-morning game Monday in Winston-Salem, N.C. against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons of the Atlantic Coast Conference. After playing an effective first half, trailing by as few as seven points, the Lady Bisons were outscored 62-15 in the second half on the way to a 101-38 loss.
Junior center Penny Jones was the only Lady Bisons player in double figures with 14 points 6-of-10 from the field, which tied the game-high. Forward Corinne Groves led Wake Forest with 14 points.
Jones tied her season-high in points. She also had 14 against Memphis Nov. 29.
The Lady Bisons shot 35.7 percent from the field, after hitting 50 percent of their shots in the first half.
Five Wake Forest players finished in double figures. Guards Cotelia Bond-Young and Deirdre Naughton both added 13. Forward Liz Strunk finished with 11 and Yolanda Lavender added 10.
Guard Alex Tchangoue was the top rebounder for Wake Forest with a game-high 18. The Demon Deacons held a 43-24 advantage on the boards.
The Lady Bisons, 0-7, will take a short break for Christmas before playing another ACC school, Florida State on Dec. 30. Wake Forest is 5-3 for the season.
