Lady Bisons ready to return home after four games on the road

Allen Arena is going to look even better to the Lipscomb Lady Bisons basketball team after four straight games away from home.

The Lady Bisons return home Thursday night at 7 to face North Florida. They closed out the road swing Saturday night in Boca Raton, Fla., with a 74-57 loss to Florida Atlantic in Atlantic Sun Conference play.

Sophomore guard Dana Carrigan scored 16 points to lead the Lady Bisons in scoring for the third straight game. She hit 6-of-12 shots from the field, including 3-of-7 3-point attempts.

Also in double figures for the Lady Bisons were a pair of freshman guards Jilian Partin with 12 and Miriam McAlister with 11. Both started in the game along with Penny Jones and point guard Catie Woods.

Playing without starting senior center Katie Beth Pate and starting sophomore forward Kaleigh Gossman the Lady Bisons were out-rebounded 56-31.

The Lady Bisons shot 42 percent from the field, including a 53.6 percent effort in the second half. They went on a 10-4 run to start the second half, but were unable to overcome a 40-16 halftime deficit.

Florida Atlantic shot 40.8 percent. Guard Shontavia Williams scored a game-high 17 points. Forward Brittany Crenshaw and Susan Beauzil each scored 10 points.

The Lady Bisons are 3-12 overall, 2-6 in the A-Sun. Florida Atlantic is 7-8, 6-2 in the conference.
