Bennett honored for 700 career victories

Lipscomb University Lady Bisons basketball coach Frank Bennett was honored Tuesday for reaching the 700th victory milestone in his basketball career.

Bennett, who completed his 27th season as head coach of the Lady Bisons, has won more than 700 games on the high school and college levels, including the NAIA.

He reached his 700th win Feb. 8 with a 595-7 decision at Stetson.

Bennett earned his 500th win Feb. 20, 2003 at Texas-Pan American.

He won 109 games as head coach at David Lipscomb High School.

Bennett was recognized during the Women's Basketball Coaches Association National Coach of the Year luncheon at the Crowne Plaza ballroom in Cleveland, Ohio, the site of the Women's NCAA Final Four.

The WBCA recognizes coaches as part of the Victory Club for wins in 100-victory increments, starting with 200.

Some of those honored along with Bennett included Jody Conradt from the University of Texas who has more than 900 victories and Geno Auriemma from Connecticut with 600 wins
