Lady Bisons shooting falters against UAB

The Lipscomb Lady Bisons haven't seen much to be sunny about at the Rainbow Wahine Classic hosted by the University of Hawaii.

Saturday afternoon in the second round the Lady Bisons lost 67-51 to UAB from Conference USA at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

The Lady Bisons will play Kentucky, a 72-60 loser to Texas Saturday, in the seventh place game Sunday at 3 p.m. CT.

The Lady Bisons kept the game close in the early stages of the first half. They led by as many as three points at 11-8 on a 3-point shot by Jenna Bartsokas with 14:17 to go before intermission.

The game was tied 20-20 with 10:41 left in the half as Dana Carrigan hit a 3-point shot.

UAB led 39-30 at the half after going on a 19-10 run. In the second half the Lady Bisons pulled within two points at 49-47 on a 3-point shot by center Katie Rollins with 9:18 left to play.

UAB went on an 18-4 run to close out the game.

Forward Katie Rollins led the Lady Bisons in scoring with 13 points. She also led the team in rebounds with six.

Forward Kaleigh Gossman added 12 points for Lipscomb.

The Lady Bisons were 17-of-58 from the field, a 29.3 percent success rate.

Four UAB players finished in double figures. Diamond Rogers scored a game-high 14. Christon Ingram finished with 13. Crystal McFadden and Britney Jones each chipped in with 11 points.

Ingram grabbed a game-high eight rebounds as UAB held a 52-29 edge on the boards.

UAB shot 39.3 percent from the field, hitting 26-of-59 attempts.

The Lady Bisons are 1-5. UAB is 2-3 this season.

The tournament ends Sunday. The Lady Bisons should play at approximately 3 p.m. CT.
