Lady Bisons second half surge falls short at Samford

Final Stats

The Lipscomb Lady Bisons lost 73-52 to Samford in their final non-conference tune-up before opening Atlantic Sun Conference play this weekend.

The Lady Bisons fell behind 40-21 in the first half at the Pete Hanna Center in Birmingham, A;a., Wednesday night. They were only outscored 33-31 in the second half. The Lady Bisons have not won in seven games on the road this season.

Junior center Katie Rollins led the Lady Bisons with 19 points, a game-high, season-high and career-high. Junior forward Jilian Partin added 16, a season high

This was the seventh time this season Rollins has scored in double figures. It was the third time this season Partin has scored in double figures.

Rollins and center Kaleigh Gossman tied for the rebound lead with eight each. That rebound total was a season high for Gossman. Partin added seven rebounds.

The Lady Bisons and Samford battled to a 32-32 deadlock on the boards.

Samford placed three players in double figures. Guard Monica Maxwell scored 16 points. Guards Taryn Towns and Emily London each chipped in with 10 points.

The Lady Bisons are 2-11. Samford, an Ohio Valley Conference school, is 8-5.

The Lady Bisons open the A-Sun portion of the season Saturday at Gardner-Webb.
