Nix sets new career highs in loss at USC Upstate
The Lipscomb Lady Bisons made a strong comeback at the end, but fell short in their efforts for a third straight Atlantic Sun victory in a 59-54 loss to USC Upstate at the Hodge Center in Spartanburg, S.C., Thursday night.

The Lady Bisons, trailing 13-4 in the first half, used a 10-0 run to take a 14-13 lead. The rest of the half was a see-saw battle with the Lady Bisons prevailing 30-25 in the first 20 minutes.

The Lady Bisons remained in control until USC Upstate got its first lead of the second half, 39-38 on a free throw by forward Chelsea McMillan who was 10-of-10 from the charity stripe.

The Lady Bisons stayed close and twice pulled within two points in the final 2 ½ minutes.

With 2:29 left in the game sophomore guard Jenna Bartsokas scored a lay-up on a fast break to trim the USC Upstate lead to 51-49.

The Lady Bisons were back within two again, 56-54, with 18 seconds on the clock, when freshman forward Chelsea Burroughs dropped in a 3-pointer.

Sophomore forward Cree Nix led the way for the Lady Bisons with 17 points and 13 rebounds, both career highs. It was her third straight game to score in double figures. She is averaging 15.7 points per game in the last three games.
