Lady Bisons find no fun in the Florida sun
Florida sunshine did little to brighten the spirits of the Lipscomb Lady Bisons as they started the second half of the Atlantic Sun regular season round robin format.

Thursday night at Alico Arena in Fort Myers, Fla., the Lady Bisons fell 89-46 to Florida Gulf Coast. It was the second loss to Florida Gulf Coast this season. The Lady Bisons fell 81-51 to Florida Gulf Coast Jan. 3 at Allen Arena.

The Lady Bisons came out of the gates with a fast start, scoring the first five points of the game with freshman guard Anna Bowers connecting on a jump shot and senior forward Jilian Partin sinking a 3-pointer.

With 12:49 left to play in the first half the Lady Bisons held on to a 13-11 lead.

Florida Gulf Coast tied the game at 13-13 25 seconds later on a jump shot by guard Shannon Murphy. With 12 minutes remaining in the first half Murphy connected on a 3-point shot for a 16-13 Florida Gulf Coast lead. The Lady Bisons would not tie or lead the game again.

Florida Gulf Coast led 41-25 at the half.

Sophomore forward Cree Nix led the Lady Bisons with 12 points and seven rebounds. Nix has led the Lady Bisons in rebounding in six of the last seven games and the last five in a row.

Sophomore guard Jenna Bartsokas added 10 points. She has scored in double figures in 16 of 20 games this season.

Florida Gulf Coast placed four players in double figures. Forward Chelsea Lyles scored a game-high 21 points. Murphy chipped in 14. Guard Brittany Brown connected for 12 points. Kelsey Jacobson came off the bench to add 11 points.

Forward Adrienne McNally grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

The Lady Bisons next stop is DeLand, Fla., for a Saturday afternoon game at 1 against Stetson. The Lady Bisons lost 65-51 to Stetson at Allen Arena Jan. 5.

The Lady Bisons are 4-16 overall, 2-9 in the conference. Florida Gulf Coast is 16-4, 9-3 in the A-Sun.
