Kennesaw State's rebounding too much for Lady Bisons

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State outrebounded Lipscomb by 37 boards as they Lady Bisons fell 70-52 Saturday evening at the Convocation Center in Kennesaw, Ga.

Kennesaw (4-4, 1-1 A-Sun) had more offensive rebounds (26) than Lipscomb had overall (20).

Leah McAlister hit 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions to tie the game after Kennesaw opened the contest up 6-0.

Kennesaw State went on a 12-0 run over 3:42 before Hannah Phillips hit a jumper to end the streak at the 6:55 mark.

Phillips basket started a 14-2 run for Lipscomb (2-8, 0-2 A-Sun) to tie the game at 26 at the 2:05 mark. Kennesaw hit two free throws to take a 28-26 lead into the locker room.

Jenna Bartsokas gave Lipscomb its first lead of the evening with a 3-pointer on the first possession of the second half. Lipscomb took its largest lead of the game, 32-28, with a free throw by Brittany Duerk and two free throws by Valerie Bronson.

Lipscomb missed eight of its next nine attempts and turned the ball over three times as Kennesaw went on a 12-2 run over the next 4:57.

McAlister made a basket with 13:18 left close Kennesaw’s lead to four, 40-36.

Kennesaw was able to expand its lead by connecting on 26-of-30 second half free throw attempts. Kennesaw was 29-of-40 for the game.

McAlister led Lipscomb with 11 points. Duerk had 10 points and a team high eight rebounds.

Montinique Nixon and Sametria Gideon each posted double-doubles for the Lady Owls. Nixon had 10 points and 14 rebounds. Gideon had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Lipscomb returns to Allen Arena Tuesday night to face Evansville. Game time is 7 p.m.
