Faulkner posts double-double in Lady Bisons loss
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Receiving her first career start for the shorthanded Lipscomb Lady Bisons, freshman wing Morgan Faulkner delivered an outstanding performance posting a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds against the USC Upstate Spartans Thursday evening.

Lipscomb fell 88-58 as it missed 25 percent of its scoring and 30 percent of its rebounding without Chelsea Burroughs (injury), Brittany Duerk (illness), and Chelsea McMeans (injury).

Faulkner gave Lipscomb (4-22, 2-14 A-Sun) a 6-3 lead with a layup 3:39 into the contest.  It would be the Lady Bison’s largest lead of the contest as Upstate (16-8, 10-5 A-Sun) embarked on a 17-2 run to take a 20-8 advantage with 10:38 left in the first half.

Lipscomb cut it to a six point contest, 25-19, two minutes later on back-to-back 3-pointers by Anna Bowers and Jenna Bartsokas.

After scoring a total of 17 points over the last three games, Bartsokas regained her form against Upstate with a team-leading 19 points on 8-of-16 shooting.

Using a 14-2 run spanning five minutes, Upstate took its largest lead of the first period, 41-23, with 2:41 left.   The Spartans took a 46-31 lead into the locker room.

A traditional three-point play by Chelsea McMillan gave Upstate a 20-point lead, 57-37, at the 14:33 mark in the second half.

With Lipscomb struggling on the boards and controlling the ball, Upstate extended its lead to 30 points, 76-46 with 5:23 left to play.

The Spartans held a 50-37 advantage on the boards.  Upstate converted 23 Lipscomb turnovers into 21 points.

Chelsea McMillan paced Upstate with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Bisons have dropped ten consecutive games, tying their longest skid since joining the NCAA.  Lipscomb has lost 18 consecutive road games.
