Women's basketball drops home opener to TTU, 81-65
NASHVILLE – Senior guard Jenna Bartsokas led Lipscomb with 20 points and junior guard Anna Bowers added 15 tallies as the Lady Bisons fell to Tennessee Tech 81-65 Thursday evening at Allen Arena.

After jumping out to a 14-6 lead, Tennessee Tech maintained control of the game capitalizing on 17 Lipscomb turnovers for 27 points.  The Lady Bisons made one stab at Tech’s lead going on a 9-2 run to cut the game to three points, 23-20, with 7:47 left in the first half.

Lipscomb shot 28.8 percent from the field and 23.8 percent from beyond the arc.  Bartsokas and Bowers combined to go 9-of-37 from the floor.

Sophomore Hannah Phillips came off the bench for the Lady Bisons scoring 10 points and grabbing six rebounds in 23 minutes.  

Junior Leah McAlister had a team-high seven rebounds.  Tennessee Tech led the boards 41-40.

Lipscomb was 22-of-27 (81.5 percent) at the free throw line.  Bartsokas made 12 of her 14 attempts.

Tiara Hopper paced the Golden Eagles with 18 points and 16 rebounds off the bench.  Kellie Cook had 14 points and Tacarra Hayes and Rachel Glidden added 11 each for Tennessee Tech.

The Lady Bisons continue their four-game home stand Saturday at 6:30 p.m. against Jacksonville State.  Brent Dougherty and Benjamin Seamon will be on the call for the Lipscomb Sports Network.
