Lady Bisons can't hold on to lead in loss to USC Upstate
Television shows are often filled with plot twists and the first Atlantic Sun Women’s Basketball Game of the Week had its share as well.

The Lipscomb Lady Bisons and host USC Upstate went through 10 lead changes and eight ties. In the end USC Upstate prevailed 77-70 Monday night at the Hodge Center in Spartanburg, S.C.. The game was televised on CSS.

The Lady Bisons led 38-35 at the half, overcoming a nine-point lead by USC Upstate. The Lady Bisons extended the lead to 42-35 one minute into the second half.

The key for USC Upstate was center Chelsea McMillan, the preseason Atlantic Sun Player of the Year. She finished with 23 points and 16 rebounds, both game highs. She scored 18 of her points in the second half and 11 of her rebounds. It was her ninth double-double of the season.

Lipscomb guard Jenna Bartsokas scored 23, tying with McMillan for the game high. It the sixth time this season Bartsokas has scored 20 or more points.

Guard Anna Bowers scored 18 points and led the Lady Bisons in rebounds with seven. Forward Hannah Phillips added 10 points.

The Lady Bisons shot 41 percent from the field and 41 percent from 3-point range. The Lady Bisons held USC Upstate to 35 percent shooting from the field and 32 percent from the 3-point arc.

USC Upstate dominated on the boards holding a 52-37 advantage.

The Lady Bisons have lost five straight games, falling to 7-12 overall, 4-6 in the A-Sun.

USC Upstate is 10-8 overall, 6-3 in the A-Sun.
