Lady Bison basketball concludes three-game road stint

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Lipscomb women’s basketball team concludes a three-game road trip, traveling to Southeastern Conference foe Ole Miss for a 7 p.m. tip-off Thursday in Oxford, Miss.

Thursday’s matchup will be the fourth all-time between the two schools. Ole Miss holds a 2-1 edge, including a 72-57 victory last season. Lipscomb’s victory came in 2003, a 74-71 triumph.

The Lady Bisons look to slow down a Rebel offense that averages 73.8 points per contest, led by Diara Moore with 15.8 points per game.

The Rebels are 3-1 holding victories over Southeast Louisana, Northwestern State and Mississppi Valley. The lone defeat game at the hands of Lamar on Nov. 19.

Ole Miss is coming off a 62-60 victory over Mississippi Valley. Danielle McCray recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds while Moore scored 15 points.

The Lady Bisons, looking for their first win on the year (0-4) are led by senior Hannah Phillips who leads the team in all major categories with 16 points, seven rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.

Freshman Presley Stastny is coming off two straight games in double-digits for points as she scored a career high 13 points at Texas Tech and 11 points at Murray State.

After Thursday’s contest the Lady Bisons return to Allen Arena for the first time since Nov. 12, a span of 18 days, to host former A-Sun rival Belmont, in head coach Greg Brown’s first “Battle of the Boulevard.” Game time is at 6:30 p.m.
