NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With a time change making a classic afternoon matinee, the Lipscomb women’s basketball team hosts USC Upstate in Atlantic Sun Conference action Monday at 2:30 p.m. in Allen Arena.
Saturday night saw the Lady Bisons make a change in rotation that saw their highest offensive output of the season but fell short in an 80-74 thriller to ETSU. Lipscomb shot a season-best 47 percent from the field enroute to a season-high 74 points led by freshman Alex Banks with 15 points. Senior Hannah Phillips and freshman Presley Stastny each added 14 points apiece.
Jess Reece, making her first start since Nov. 12, was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field for eight points and snagged a team-high nine rebounds.
Phillips continues to lead the Lipscomb attack with 12.3 points per game. Freshman Kelli Smith is averaging 11.3 points and 3.3 assists per game in conference play while Reece, a junior, is snagging a team-best seven rebounds per game in A-Sun action.
USC Upstate fell to conference newcomer Northern Kentucky 70-62 on Saturday. The Spartans placed four in double-figures including team-leader Tee’Ara Copney with 12 points in the loss.
Copney, a preseason All-Atlantic Sun selection, averages 12.7 points per game as the only Spartan to average double-digits in an offense that scores 59 points per game. Brittany Starling leads the team with five rebounds per game.
