Friday, January 11, 2013 NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After claiming its first win in Atlantic Sun Conference play, the Lipscomb women’s basketball team looks to start a streak at A-Sun newcomer Northern Kentucky Saturday in Highland Heights, Ky. at Noon. The Lady Bisons, 2-12 overall and 1-3 in A-Sun action, are coming off a 57-56 victory over USC Upstate. Freshman Presley Stastny sank the game-winning basket with .4 seconds on the clock. Junior Jess Reece posted a double-double with 14 points and 17 rebounds, the most rebounds since Katie Beth Pate snagged 20 against UCF on Feb. 7, 2004. Moving into a starting role in conference play, Reece has stepped up averaging 10.3 rebounds and 7.3 points per game. Hannah Phillips continues to lead the Lady Bisons with 12.1 points and six rebounds per game overall. Stastny, a freshman, is second on the team with 9.7 points per game and has sunk a team-leading 28 3-point baskets. Lipscomb has moved into the upper echelon of the NCAA with 7.2 made 3-point baskets per game, which ranks them 28th out of 343 Division I teams. The Norse, 5-8 overall and 2-2 in conference play, claimed victories over USC Upstate and ETSU last weekend. NKU is led by two in double-figures, Kayla Thacker at 11.6 points and Tiara Hopper with 10.8 points per game while also leading the team with 6.1 rebounds per contest.
