MACON, Ga. – After putting up 29.5 points per game and shooting 40 percent from the floor, Lipscomb redshirt-sophomore Danay Fothergill has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week as announced by the league on Monday.
The award is Fothergill’s first Player of the Week honor of her career.
The Somerset, Ky. native entered the week with two 30-point performances in A-Sun play. On Thursday she added another, dropping 32 points against Jacksonville on the road. She followed that up with a 27-point effort at North Florida on Saturday.
The sophomore was outstanding from the free-throw line, going 14-of-15 against the Dolphins and a perfect 6-for-6 against the Ospreys for a 95 percent success rate. She has now made 33 of her last 36 attempts.
She hit 7-of-20 from behind the arc to give her 26 made 3s on the year; second most on the team.
Fothergill moved to the point position for the road swing and dished out six assists over the two game span. She also added six rebounds at North Florida.
Fothergill upped her team-leading scoring average to 21.2 for the season and is pouring in an even better 25.3 in conference play.
