DeLAND, Fla. – For the second game in a row, the Lipscomb women’s basketball team will face an Atlantic Sun Conference co-leader, Stetson. The game is set to tip at 12 p.m. Saturday at the Edmunds Center on the campus of the Hatters.
The game will be broadcast live on A-SunTV.
Lipscomb (5-21, 2-13 A-Sun) is coming off a 108-67 loss to Florida Gulf Coast Thursday night in Fort Myers. The Eagles shot 67.7 percent from the floor and scored 64 points in the first half to put the game out of reach.
The A-Sun’s leading scorer, Danay Fothergill, led the Lady Bisons with 12 points. The redshirt sophomore also added four rebounds. She is averaging 18 points per game.
The A-Sun Newcomer of the Week, Ashley Southern, fell just short of her 20th double-double of the year. The 6-foot-1 forward poured in nine points and snagged eight boards.
The Hatters (23-5, 15-1 A-Sun) are coming off a 74-57 victory over Northern Kentucky on Thursday. Amber Porter led five players in double figures with 22 points to extend Stetson’s win streak to 15. Stetson’s only A-Sun loss came in the opening conference game against FGCU.
Saturday’s matchup will be the 22nd meeting in the series history in Lipscomb’s NCAA D-I era. The Hatters own a 14-7 advantage.
Lipscomb entertained Stetson Feb. 1 in Allen Arena. The Hatters left Nashville with an 82-47 win.
Southern led the Lady Bisons with 14 points and 16 rebounds in that matchup.
The Hatters possess the top offense in the league, averaging 79.6 points. Lipscomb’s scoring offense is third at 69.
Lipscomb will return home for the final two games of the regular season March 6, when ETSU visits Nashville for a 6 p.m. ESPN3 broadcast.
