NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb women’s basketball team is looking to notch its first Atlantic Sun Conference win against Kennesaw State in Allen Arena Saturday night.
The Lady Bisons (5-11, 0-2) are coming into the game having lost two consecutive conference matchups to Northern Kentucky and USC Upstate. In the 71-68 loss to the Spartans, junior Danay Fothergill scored 20 or more points for the third time in a row. During the streak, Fothergill scored 26 in a win over Trevecca and 21 in each of the losses to Northern Kentucky and USC Upstate.
Four Lady Bisons scored in double digits in the loss to the Spartans. Sara Bliss and Chandler Cooper both scored 12 points against Upstate, and Ashley Southern added 10.
Kennesaw State (13-4, 2-0) has the second best overall record in the A-Sun, behind Florida Gulf Coast’s 15-2 mark. They enter the tilt on a two-game winning streak, with a 72-63 victory over USC Upstate and a 66-58 won over Northern Kentucky.
Saturday’s game starts at 4 and will be broadcast on ESPN3. Live stats will also be available.
- Lipscomb and Kennesaw State have met 17 times previously, with the Owls holding an 11-6 advantage. KSU won both of last year’s matchups.
- Southern has grabbed double-digit rebounds in six games this season, and has led the team in rebounding in 14 of the team’s 16 contests.
- Emily Eubank extended her streak of three or more assists to 11 games with a team-high seven assists in the loss to the Spartans. She is ranked third in the A-Sun with 4.1 assists per game.
- The Lady Bisons are ranked 13th nationally in three-pointers made per game with an average of 8.3. They are ranked second behind Florida Gulf Coast’s 10.2 mark in the A-Sun.
