NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After earning its first Atlantic Sun victory of the season last time out, the Lady Bisons are looking to continue their winning ways at Jacksonville on Thursday night.
Lipscomb (6-11, 1-2) come into the matchup with the Dolphins on a high note after taking down the Kennesaw State Owls at home 79-61 Saturday in Allen Arena. The 18-point victory was the biggest A-Sun win for the Lady Bisons since January 2010.
In the victory, Ashley Southern scored a game-high 26 points and 10 rebounds. It was her fifth double-double of the season and 27th of her career. Danay Fothergill and Chandler Cooper scored 18 and 16 points respectively for Lipscomb. The trio combined for 60 of the team’s 79 points.
The Dolphins (6-10, 1-2) have lost their last two games. Both losses came in A-Sun play, with the most recent being a 60-37 loss to the A-Sun’s top team Florida Gulf Coast. Loliya Briggs, with 14 points, was the only Dolphin to score in double-figures in the game.
- Although Lipscomb is ranked 14th nationally in three-pointers made per game with an 8.2 mark, it is only good enough for second place in the A-Sun behind Florida Gulf Coast’s 10.4 average.
- Emily Eubank is on a 12-game streak of three or more assists. She leads the team, and is tied for second in the A-Sun with 4.1 assists per game.
- Southern has led the Lady Bisons in rebounding for 15 of the team’s 17 games this season. Her 9.2 rebounds per game average is fourth in the A-Sun and 78th in the nation.
- This is the 23rd matchup between the two teams. Jacksonville leads the overall series 13-9.
Thursday’s game starts at 6 and will be broadcast on ESPN3. Live stats will also be available.
