Women's hoops continues A-Sun slate at Stetson

DELAND, Fla. – After winning three straight games in late January, the Lady Bisons basketball team has dropped three in a row and are looking to get back on track Thursday against Stetson.

Lipscomb (8-14, 3-5) lost their most recent game on the road to Northern Kentucky 64-57 despite leading at halftime. Ashley Southern led the way with 16 points and nine rebounds. Danay Fothergill grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds in the loss, but scored well-below her season average with five points. Both the Lady Bisons and the Norse shot less than forty percent from the field.

In their most recent outing, Stetson (16-6, 5-3) lost to Florida Gulf Coast at home 61-39. Amber Porter recorded a double-double for the Hatters with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Myeisha Hall added 10 points. Stetson has four players averaging in double-figure scoring for the year. Brianti Sanders (13.5), Amber Porter (13.3), Jama Sharp (13.0), and Hall (12.7) provide Stetson with a balanced attack.

The two teams have met 23 previous times, with Stetson leading the series 16-7. In the last meeting, Stetson won 82-77 at Allen Arena.  Both teams produced three double-digit scorers in the game. Fothergill, Southern and Sara Bliss scored 24, 17 and 11 for the Lady Bisons, while Sharp, Porter and Sanders dropped 22, 20 and 18 for the Hatters.

QUICK HITS:

  • Fothergill’s 45.4 three-point field goal percentage is good enough for first in the A-Sun and 9th in the country.
