Women's hoops set for tilt with UNF

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After a long road trip against the top teams in the Atlantic Sun, the Lady Bisons basketball team is back home to take on North Florida Thursday night.

The two teams have met 18 previous times, with the Ospreys leading the all-time series 14-4. However, the Lady Bisons won the first matchup this season 71-62 at home.

In their most recent outing, Lipscomb (8-16, 3-7) lost to Atlantic Sun leading Florida Gulf Coast 69-43 on the road. Ashley Southern and Sara Bliss paced the team with 14 and 12 points respectively.

Danay Fothergill grabbed seven rebounds, but scored well below her season average with five points. Emily Eubank added to her A-Sun leading total with seven assists.

UNF also lost their last game. They fell 64-52 at home against Kennesaw State. Aareon Smith led the team with 19 points in the loss. Destinee Smith has the Ospreys’ highest scoring average at 13.4 points per game. Paulina Zaveckaite averages a double-double with 10.1 points and 11.8 rebounds.

  • Fothergill’s 43.7 three-point field goal percentage is good enough for second in the A-Sun and 16th in the country.
  • The Lady Bisons are ranked 10th nationally in three-pointers made per game with an average of 8.5. They are ranked second behind Florida Gulf Coast’s 10.2 average in the A-Sun.
  •  Southern is averaging 8.4 rebounds per game ranking her fourth in the Atlantic Sun. She led the A-Sun in rebounding in the 2013-14 season with an 11.4 mark.
  • Eubank is leading the A-Sun in assists per game with 4.3. She is one of only two players, along with Stetson’s Jama Sharp, to average over four per game in the conference.
