NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb women’s basketball team is travelling to Georgia to take on Kennesaw State in the final regular season game of the year Saturday.
The Lady Bisons (8-19, 3-10) and the Owls (16-12, 5-8) have met 18 times previously, with Kennesaw leading the overall series 11-7. However, Lipscomb won the first matchup this season 79-61 at Allen Arena.
On Thursday, the Lady Bisons lost to USC Upstate 76-67 at home on senior night. Despite leading at halftime, Lipscomb could not fend off the Spartans late charge for the win.
In her final career home game, Danay Fothergill notched 24 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Junior Ashley Southern added a double-double with 22 points and 11 assists. The two combined for 46 of the team’s 67 points.
In their most recent outing, Kennesaw State lost to Northern Kentucky 68-61 on the road. Three Owls finished in double-figures with Jasmine McAllister leading the way with 13.
Deandrea Sawyers is the Owls’ leading scorer at 13.8 per game. McAllister averages a double-double with 13.6 points and 10.4 rebounds. Kristina Wells adds 11.6 points and 8.3 rebounds, while also leading the team in assists.
- Fothergill’s 43.1 three-point field goal percentage is good enough for second in the A-Sun and 16th in the country.
- The Lady Bisons are ranked 15th nationally in three-pointers made per game with an average of 8.1. They are ranked second behind Florida Gulf Coast’s 9.8 average in the A-Sun.
- Southern is averaging 8.4 rebounds per game ranking her 4th in the Atlantic Sun. She led the A-Sun in rebounding in the 2013-14 season with an 11.4 mark.
- Emily Eubank is number one in the Atlantic Sun in assists at 4.3 per contest.
