Women's basketball announces 2016 recruiting class

NASHVILLE – Lipscomb women’s basketball head coach Greg Brown announces the signing of the 2016 signing class. Five student-athletes have signed to play for the Lady Bisons.

Lipscomb has improved its win total in each of the past three seasons, and these five players will look to help build on that trend of upward movement.

Brown shared his thoughts on each of the new signings.

Lauren Rau - 5’5” - Greenwood, Indiana - Center Grove High School

Rau is an All-State athlete in both basketball and track at Center Grove High School. In addition to being named All-State, Rau has been named All-Region, All-District, team captain and to the Indiana Elite North vs. South All-Star Game in her time as a Trojan.

“Lauren’s energy is contagious, and she brings a skill set and competitiveness to match,” Brown said. “She has great vision and a great understanding of the game.”

Emily Kmec - 6’2”-  Carmel, Indiana - Carmel High School

Kmec has already been named a two-time All-Conference and All-County team member in her time as a Carmel High School Greyhound. She has also been named to the Academic All-Conference team three years in a row.

“Emily is a very skilled player that plays with poise and composure,” Brown said. “At 6’2’’ she also adds length on the perimeter.”

Kaylee Cotton - 5’10” - Stearns, Kentucky - McCreary Central High School

Cotton has been named All-State twice times, All-Region and All-District three times, and team captain twice in her three years playing for the McCreary CHS Raiders. She is the school’s all-time leader in points and rebounds and holds the school record for points in a game.

“Kaylee is a very competitive player with a diverse skill set,” Brown said. “She has the opportunity to really impact the game in a variety of ways.”

Lexi Manos - 5’5” - North Canton, Ohio - Hoover High School

At Hoover High School, Manos has earned All-District and All-Erie Inland honors in her time as a Viking. In addition to her success on the court, Manos has tallied several academic honors off it including the President’s award.

“Lexi plays incredibly hard,” Brown said. “She has an aggressive skill set and a desire to really defend.”

Carleigh Short - 5’6” - Hendersonville, Tennessee - Hendersonville High School

Short has been named All-Region once and All-District twice in her basketball career at Hendersonville High School. She has been the Commandos captain for three consecutive years, and has maintained a 4.0 GPA.

“Carleigh has great basketball IQ,” Brown said. “She has a relentless work ethic as well.”
