Inside the Herd: Lauren Rau

Next up for the “Inside the Herd” series will be freshman Lauren Rau. Rau comes from Greenwood, Indiana where she played guard at Center Grove High School.

What’s been the biggest difference between high school and college basketball so far?

“The game itself is faster. The speed of it is different. Everyone is super solid here, and everyone is here because they want to play, not because they have to. That was an adjustment.”

What’s been the biggest off-court difference between the two?

“Well, I’m six hours away from home, so that was also an adjustment. I’m really close with my family, so that’s been the hardest part.”

Why did you choose Lipscomb?
I love Nashville, and I just like what Lipscomb stands for. My professors pray before an exam. I went to a public high school, so I didn’t get that. I love everything about it.”

What off-court hobbies do you have?

“I like being outside, and I like to read a lot. ‘For the Love’ by Jen Hatmaker is  my favorite book.”

Coach Brown’s thoughts on Lauren:

“Lauren will redshirt this season. From a point guard standpoint, you want them to play, but for what she’ll be able to see and do this season, it will bring her in as a veteran freshman next season at the point position.”
