Inside the Herd: Laure Assena

Next up in the “Inside the Herd” series will be junior Laure Assena. Assena, who hails from Yaounde, Cameroon, is entering her first season with the Lady Bisons after transferring from Arizona Western College.

What’s been the biggest different between your previous school and Lipscomb?

“It’s very different in all aspects. Basketball-wise, it’s more challenging I’d say. School-wise, it’s a little harder. You have to have good time-management.”

Do you have any goals for yourself for this season?

“Yes. School-wise, I want to have a 3.5 GPA of course, if I can get there. Basketball-wise, I just want to give my everything to the team and make the best out of my two years here to help change this program.”

What off-court hobbies or hidden talents do you have?

“I play soccer, and I like to sing. They say I’m funny, but I don’t really know if that’s true.

“I would say spending time with my family, but they are back in Cameroon. My sister is in Texas, which is about two hours away by plane. It takes an 18-19 hour flight to get to Cameroon.”

Coach Brown’s thoughts on Laure:

“We’re really excited about her. From her personality to her love for the game, she brings a different element for us that we haven’t had, and the fans will really enjoy watching her play.”
