Hot-shooting Bruins take women's hoops 'Battle'
NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb (1-6) women’s basketball team’s struggled to keep up with rival Belmont (4-4) in the Battle of the Boulevard on Tuesday night as the Lady Bisons fell to the hot-shooting Bruins 100-62 in the Curb Event Center.
Senior Alex Banks paced Lipscomb with a team-high 18 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Junior Loshaveon Jones scored a career-high 13 points and shot 6-8 from the field.
Junior Loren Cagle turned in another solid all-around performance with eight points, four rebounds, and a team-high three assists.
Belmont poured it in from deep all night, as the Bruins shot a blistering 16-24 from behind the arc.
QUICK HITS:
- Five different Bruins finished in double-figures: Darby Maggard (18), Sierra Jones (16), Lauren Thompson (16), Paris Lawson (12), and Sally McCabe (10).
- Belmont shot 36-64 from the field (56.3 percent) compared to Lipscomb’s 24-59 total (40.7 percent).
- 12 different Lady Bisons saw action, with Cagle piling up a team-high 36 minutes.
- Lipscomb was out-rebounded 37-28, while Belmont tossed 26 assists to Lipscomb’s 11.
