Women's basketball set for post-Christmas slate with Saint Louis, Princeton

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb (3-10) women’s basketball team is set to continue its homestead with a pair of post-Christmas games at Allen Arena.

The Lady Bisons will take on Saint Louis (9-3) on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. followed by a noon tip on New Year’s Eve against Princeton (5-6).

SCOUTING THE BILLIKENS:

  • This is the second Division I matchup between the two schools, with Saint Louis having won the previous outing 67-62 at home.
  • SLU enters the matchup having defeated Missouri 72-61 at home.    
  • The Billikens have three players averaging in double-figures so far this season: Jackie Kemph (15.0), Sadie Stipanovich (13.6), and Jordyn Frantz (11.6).

SCOUTING THE TIGERS:

  • This is the first matchup between the two schools in the Division I era.
  • Princeton enters the game having defeated Wagner 107-44.
  • The Tigers have two players averaging in double-figures so far this season: Bella Alarie (11.5), and Tia Weledji (10.5).

QUICK HITS:

  • Senior Alex Banks has been the Lady Bisons’ leading scorer so far this season with 11.8 points per game. The forward notched a career-high 34 points (on 14-20 shooting) and 11 rebounds in the Lady Bisons’ 66-59 victory over Anderson in the home opener. She grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds in a 67-52 loss to Charleston Southern at home.
  • Lipscomb heads into the matchup having defeated Tennessee Tech 71-69 at home in overtime. Banks led the team with 20 points.
  • Cagle was named to the preseason watch list for the Nancy Lieberman Award, which is handed out each season to the best point guard in the nation. She was one of 20 student-athletes to earn the recognition and one of only four players from a mid-major program on the list. She is averaging 9.3 points, 4.7 assists, and 4.2 rebounds on the season.
  • Banks and Cagle are the only players to start every game so far this year against Lipscomb.
  • 11 Lady Bisons are averaging 10 or more minutes per game on the season.
