Women's hoops to close out regular season at Kennesaw

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Lipscomb (6-22, 3-10) women’s basketball team will be travelling to Georgia to take on Kennesaw State (8-19, 7-6) in the final game of the regular season.

The game is set to take place at KSU’s Convocation Center on Saturday at 1 p.m.

SCOUTING THE OWLS:

  • This is the 22nd Division I matchup between the two schools, with Kennesaw holding a 14-7 series lead, including a 70-55 win to kick off ASUN play earlier this season.
  • KSU enters the game having lost to Jacksonville 74-62 home.
  • The Owls have two players averaging in double-figures: Deandrea Sawyers (11.6) and Carlotta Gianolla (11.6).
  • Gianolla also leads with 6.2 rebounds per contest.

QUICK HITS:

  • Senior Alex Banks has been the Lady Bisons’ leading scorer so far this season with 11.8 points per game. The forward notched a career-high 34 points (on 14-20 shooting) and 11 rebounds in the Lady Bisons’ 66-59 victory over Anderson in the home opener. She grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds in a 67-52 loss to Charleston Southern at home.
  • Lipscomb heads into the matchup having defeated UNF 66-62 on Senior Night. Banks, the team’s lone senior, became the fifth player in the Division I era to score 1,000 career points in program history.
  • Junior Loren Cagle was named to the preseason watch list for the Nancy Lieberman Award, which is handed out each season to the best point guard in the nation. She was one of 20 student-athletes to earn the recognition and one of only four players from a mid-major program on the list. She is averaging 8.7 points, an ASUN-leading 5.7 assists, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.4 steals on the season.
  • Banks is the only player to start every game so far this year against Lipscomb.
