Women's basketball releases 2017-18 schedule

NASHVILLE – As another season waits just around the corner, the Lipscomb women’s basketball team and head coach Greg Brown have announced the 2017-18 schedule.

The Bisons return this year with a veteran-heavy squad and a schedule full of opponents both local and distant to help prepare the team for the ASUN slate.

"We are really excited about this schedule,” Brown said. “We believe it’s great preparation for ASUN play. There are several mid-state games and a home game with Alabama for fans to look forward to, along with traveling to Vanderbilt.

"These seniors have worked really hard and we look forward to the potential of this team and season.”

The Purple and Gold will begin the season with a trip to Charleston, South Carolina to take on College of Charleston on Nov. 10 and Charleston Southern on Nov. 12.

The Bisons home opener will arrive on Nov. 21 as the Ohio Valley Conference’s Murray State visits Allen Arena. The matchup will be one of three consecutive and six total against OVC opponents as Lipscomb welcomes Austin Peay and Morehead State on Nov. 26 and Dec. 2. They will then visit Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech on Dec. 15 and 21, respectively.

The sixth OVC opponent will be Battle of the Boulevard rival Belmont who the Bisons will be taking on at home as part of a doubleheader with the men’s squads on Dec. 4.

Lipscomb will take on two SEC teams in the month of December as Alabama will visit on the 7th and the Bisons will make the short trip to Vanderbilt on the 28th.  This will be the third consecutive season Lipscomb will take on Alabama.

ASUN play will begin on Jan. 6 at Kennesaw State, followed by trips to Jacksonville (Jan. 13) and North Florida (Jan. 15) before Lipscomb returns home for dates with Stetson (Jan. 20) and FGCU (Jan. 22).

The final road game of the schedule will come at Stetson on Feb. 19 before the regular season closes out against Kennesaw on Feb. 24.
