Women's hoops struggle on road at ASUN-leading FGCU

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb women’s basketball team struggled on the road against the ASUN’s top team, falling 88-52 against FGCU at Alico Arena.

The Lady Bisons (10-17, 6-6) kept it close in the first quarter, trailing just 28-21 after one period of play. However, FGCU outscored Lipscomb 23-8 in the second to pull ahead for good.

Despite the loss, the Lady Bisons clinched a home first round game in the ASUN Tournament with North Florida’s loss. 

Senior Loren Cagle led the Lady Bisons with 10 points, two rebounds, and two assists.

Sophomore Kaylee Cotton notched nine points, on 3-5 shooting from three-point range.

Freshman Taylor Clark collected eight points and six rebounds.

Sophomore Lauren Rau added seven points and three assists.  

QUICK HITS:

  • Four Eagles finished in double-figures: Jessica Catani (20), Rosemarie Julien (17), Taylor Gradinjan (12), and Nasrin Ulel (10).
  • The Eagle out-rebounded Lipscomb 46-27, and Lady Bisons lost the assist battle 23-11.
  • 11 Lady Bisons played 10 or more minutes. Cagle led with a team-high 28 minutes.
  • Lipscomb forced 15 turnovers and gave up 16.

 

UP NEXT: The Lady Bisons will continue their road trip with a 6 p.m. matchup against Stetson on Monday.
