Women's basketball struggles on road in final 2018 game

MOREHEAD, Ky.  - The Lipscomb women’s basketball team closed out the year on a tough note as the Lady Bisons fell on the road at Morehead State 79-44 on Saturday afternoon.

Lipscomb (2-11) got off to a slow start against the Eagles (9-4) and were never able to recover despite stronger showings in the following quarters.

Freshman Kailey Rosenbaum paced Lipscomb with a team-high 10 points, four rebounds, and a team-best three assists.

Junior Lauren Rau tied Rosenbaum for the team lead with three assists, while junior Anna Hammaker added seven points and a team-best nine rebounds, her career high.

 

BISON TIDBITS:

  • Rau and fellow junior Carleigh Short swiped Lipscomb’s two steals.
  • Aliyah Jeune led Morehead with 22 points. Two Eagles finished in double-figures.
  • Lipscomb out-rebounded MSU 44-36, but lost the assist battle 20-11.
  • Nine Lady Bisons played 10 or more minutes and six played 20+ plus minute, led by 30 from Rau.
  • Eight Lady Bisons scored, with five scoring five or more points.
  • Lipscomb is 1-7 against Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) teams on the year.

The Lady Bisons will kick off ASUN play with a trip to Jacksonville on Jan. 5.
