Women's basketball starts ASUN play with loss at FGCU

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Lipscomb women’s basketball team opened up ASUN play with an 82-56 loss at No. 25 FGCU on Saturday afternoon in Alico Arena.

The Lady Bisons held close early on, but the potent Eagles offense broke the game open late in the third quarter and continued their win-clinching run throughout the fourth.

Lipscomb trail by just six, 17-11, after the first period thanks to a strong start from Casey Collier. The freshman ended up leading the team in points with 14, rebounds with eight, and assists with five.

Three other Lady Bisons scored in double-figures. Junior Taylor Clark tied Collier for the team lead with 14 points and also added six rebounds and a block.

Freshman Jalyn Holcomb notched 13 points, four rebounds, and a team-best three steals.

Senior Carleigh Short added 10 points, including two third quarter three-pointers.

Lipscomb falls to 3-11 with the loss, while FGCU improves to 14-2.
