Former Lipscomb basketball player Katie Beth Allen is entering her sixth season as an assistant coach for the Lady Bisons.

Allen was a dominating shot blocker and rebounder in the Atlantic Sun Conference. She earned All-Atlantic Sun Second Team honors in 2003-2004 and was also the conference tournament MVP for 2003-2004. Allen is the second highest scorer in the NCAA Division I era with 1,078 points over her career. She currently holds the record for rebounds (935) and blocked shots (329).

The 2009-10 campaign was Allen's first year as a full-time assistant coach for Lady Bisons head coach Frank Bennett.

In 2008-09 she served as a graduate assistant coach for the Lady Bisons. Allen received her B.S. in Health and Physical Education in December of 2006. She received her Masters in Education Administration at Lipscomb.

"Lipscomb University and the Lady Bison basketball program have been huge blessings in my life," said Allen. "The Lady Bison program is headed for great things. I am looking forward to being a part of and continuing the tradition of excellence Coach Bennett has established."

Allen is from Norcross, Ga. She played high school basketball at Greater Atlanta Christian School.

She is the daughter of Meg and Tom Pate. She has an older brother, Tom Ed and a younger sister Sarah Grace.

Katie Beth married Adam Allen in May 2008. They reside in Nashville.
