Talbert earns weekly A-Sun honors in season debut

MACON, Ga. – In her season debut, Lipscomb cross country’s Madi Talbert picked up Atlantic Sun Women’s Runner of the Week honors after a stellar performance at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown at Boston College last weekend.

Talbert led the Lady Bisons to a 12th place overall finish in a field of 21 teams. Six of the opposing teams were ranked nationally in the top 30 including No. 1 Michigan and No. 5 Georgetown while eight were ranked in the nation’s top 40.

She clocked in with a time of 17:50.0 warranting a 33rd-place finish out of 207 runners. Her time was 23 seconds faster than her 2013 A-Sun Championship time.

Claiming her first Runner of the Week honor, Talbert is the third Lady Bison to take home the weekly conference award following sophomore Barbara Lee Ball and freshman Paige Stoner.

Talbert will be back in action with the Bisons Saturday Oct. 4 when the teams trek to Louisville, Kentucky for the Greater Louisville Classic.
