LAKEPOINT, Ga. – For the first time in her career, sophomore Brooke Kingma has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Kingma turned in a top notch performance on Saturday at the Belmont Opener, placing second with a time of 17:42.70 in the 5K. The time was a full three seconds better than her previous personal-best mark.
Her time helped the Lady Bisons earn a second place finish with 31 total points overall, just seven points behind national-ranked Vanderbilt and 55 ahead of third place Belmont.
Although this is Kingma’s first cross country Runner of the Week win, it is her second ASUN Runner of the Week award overall as she was named the Indoor Track Runner of the Week in February.
The Purple and Gold will be back in action on Sept. 17 at the Commodore Classic.
