LakePoint, Ga. – For the second consecutive voting period, Lipscomb sophomore Courtney Brenner has been named the ASUN Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, as announced by the league offices on Wednesday.
Brenner joins former Bisons Madi Talbert and Dani Walker as the only people to win back-to-back ASUN weekly awards for women’s cross country.
Brenner earned the award after taking first place for the second weekend in a row, this time at the Stan Sims Invitational on Friday with a time of 17:25.1.
She beat the rest of the field by 51 seconds, improving her time from last week by 15 seconds, and now owns the best time in the ASUN by 18 seconds.
The California native helped Lipscomb to a first-place finish, ahead of their fellow ASUN squads including the host Kennesaw State and Stetson.
This is the third time Brenner has won an ASUN weekly award, as she was named the ASUN Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week last spring for her performance at the Bison Outdoor Classic in Pennsylvania.
Brenner and the rest of the Bisons will be back in action on Saturday at the Commodore Invite in Nashville.
