CARTERSVILLE, Ga. – After another successful regular season in the books, the Lipscomb cross country squad is headed to Georgia for the ASUN Championships on Saturday, where the women enter as a conference-record six-time defending champs and the men have won three of the last four titles.
The men’s race will begin at 7:30 in the morning at Stan Smith Park in Cartersville, Georgia, followed by the women’s race at 8:30.
The Lady Bisons head into the weekend owning five of the ASUN’s 14 best times. Sophomore Courtney Brenner, senior Kacey Kemper, and freshman Lauren Flynt have the second, third, and fourth best times in the conference currently.
On the men’s side, Lipscomb sports eight of the top 14 times in the ASUN heading into Saturday, including senior Jacob Poyner’s conference-best time of 24:12.1.
Lipscomb and North Florida enter the meet as the only regionally-ranked squads in both the men’s and women’s races.
Lipscomb is ranked 11th in the latest South Region women’s poll and 12th in the men’s poll, while UNF slots in at 13th and 9th, respectively.
Earlier this season, the Bisons grabbed first place in the women’s race and fourth in the men’s at the ASUN Preview, which takes place on the same course as the ASUN Championships.
Brenner, Kemper, Flynt, and freshman Jacie Legois swept the top four spots for the men, and junior Ryan Speer led the men with a sixth-place finish.
Last season at the ASUN Championships, the women boasted seven All-Conference finishers on their way to grabbing an ASUN-record sixth consecutive championship. The men earned three All-Conference spots on route to finishing second.
