LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Lipscomb cross country team turned in a top-notch performance at the 2019 Greater Louisville Classic as the women’s squad placed second overall and the men finished fourth.
The Lady Bisons accumulated a total score of 145, placing them ahead of 37 squads, including host Louisville, Xavier, and Marquette, and behind only first-place Middle Tennessee (103).
The Bisons notched a score of 211 in fourth, placing behind Middle Tennessee State, Louisville, and Campbell.
For the second consecutive meet, redshirt-junior Brent Leber turned in the top performance for the Purple and Gold. Leber finished eighth out of 373 runners with a blazing time of 23:49.8, setting a program record with the mark.
Senior Brooke Kingma also finished in the top 10 on the women’s side, placing ninth with a time of 17:26.3.
Next up for the women were junior Lauren Flynt (17:34.2) and senior Hannah Owens (17:38.0), placing 18th and 23rd, respectively.
Closing out the Lady Bisons top five were senior Grace Oetting (17:53.0) and junior Grace Lahey (17:57.6) in 45th and 50th.
Senior Zach Israel had the second-best time for the men’s squad, placing 30th in 24:23.6.
Next up for the men were freshman Ronald Kigen (24:37.0), redshirt-freshman Scott McKenzie (24:46.0), freshman Brady Johnson (24:48.9), and sophomore Patrick Smith (24:49.9) in 51st, 62nd, 67th, and 71st, respectively.
