Tuesday, February 21, 2012 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Led by a fourth-place finish by sophomore Savanna Schubert, the Lipscomb women’s golf team opened the 2012 slate with an eighth-place finish in the “Ann Rhoads Invitational” hosted by Birmingham Southern in Birmingham. Schubert was the story for the Lady Bison as she followed up an 86 on Sunday with a +3, 75 on Monday that paced the field. Monday’s finish earned her a tie for fourth and only three shots behind Darin Pinnick, who fired a 158 and won a playoff to earn top honors. Freshman Danielle Grace finished tied for 41st with a 176 (94,82) just ahead of fellow rookie Samantha Khan, who tied for 46th with a 178 (99,79). Morgan Bucher fired a 180 (86-94) to finish tied for 57th and sophomore Sabrina Ferreri rounded out the Lady Bison competitors with a 189 (96-93) Indianapolis finished atop the field with a 644 (336, 308) to win the event. Lipscomb continues spring action on March 4-5 in the Murray State “NewWave Racer Classic” at the Miller Memorial Golf Club in Murray, Ky.
