Women's golf breaks record to lead after round one

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Lipscomb women’s golf had a strong showing in round one of the Charles Braun Jr. Intercollegiate on Monday and ended the first round as the tournament leaders.

The Lady Bisons shot 295 as a team and broke the school record for a team’s single round total by 12 strokes. Prior to Monday, the lowest round the Lady Bisons had shot all fall was 321 at the SIUE Intercollegiate in September.

Miriam Parker played an outstanding round and fired a one-under par 70. Parker was the only golfer under par for the day. She leads the field by one stroke.

Sami Khan shot 74 and finished at three-over par. Her total places her in a tie for 14th overall.

Finishing one stroke behind Khan with a 75 in round one, Morgan Bucher is tied for 17th heading into the final round on Tuesday.

Savanna Schubert posted a 76 and ended the day in a tie for 25th. Four of the five Bisons placed inside the top 25.

MacKenzy Carter rounded out the Bisons day with a nine-over par 80. She is tied for 51st overall.

The final round will begin with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
