Parker leads the Lady Bisons to victory on the links

HERMITAGE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb women’s golf team secured its first tournament victory of the year after firing a team total of 316 Monday in the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate.

Lipscomb had a great day on the links at Hermitage Golf Club as three Lady Bisons posted top 5 finishes.

Miriam Parker fired the lowest round of the day with a 1-over-par 73. After making the turn with a 38 on the front nine, Parker shot 35 on the back.

The win is Parker’s second victory of the season after tying for first at the Braun Intercollegiate in October.

Sami Khan fired 38-41 to give her a 7-over-par, 79 and a fifth place finish.

Savanna Schubert also placed fifth. Schubert posted 41-38 for a 79.

Sarah McFarlin, playing as an individual, opened with a 46 before coming back to post a 38 on the back nine. Her 84 put McFarlin in 15th overall.

MacKenzy Carter was just one shot behind McFarlin with an 85. Her 44-41 was good enough for a 17th place finish.

Sabrina Ferreri rounded out the Lady Bisons with a 104. She ended the day in 23rd.

Lipscomb defeated the four-team field by four strokes.  Belmont shot 320, Trevecca posted a 326 and host Tennessee State fired a 328.

The Lady Bisons will return to action April 14-16 in the Atlantic Sun Championship in Jacksonville, Fla.
