Parker paces Lady Bisons golf in A-Sun Championship

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. –The Lipscomb women’s golf team wrapped up the 2014 campaign with a ninth place finish in the 2014 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship on the Pine Lakes Course at the Jekyll Island Golf Club in Jekyll Island.

The Lady Bisons posted a three-round 961 (312, 331, 318) to finish six shots behind eighth place Northern Kentucky.

Sophomore Miriam Parker led the way for the Lady Bisons with a plus-14, 230. Parker opened with a one-over par 73 in round one and recorded four birdies in the process. In a rain-soaked second round that was stretched over two days, the Madison, Miss. native struggled to find her swing and shot an 11-over, 83. But Parker was able to find her stroke in the third and final round to card a two-over par 74 and finished tied for 16th.

Senior Savanna Schubert posted a three-round total of 242 in her final A-Sun Championship. Schubert finished in a tie for 35th after posting rounds of 77-86-79.

Senior MacKenzy Carter and junior Sami Khan finished just behind Schubert, each scoring a tournament total of 246 and finishing in a tie for 39th. Carter shot rounds of 80-81-85.

Khan shot her low round of the tournament in the third round with an 80, after scoring an 82 in round one and an 84 in round two.

Sarah McFarlin rounded out the Lady Bisons with a 50th place finish. The junior posted 89-83-87 for a 259 three-round total.

ETSU, ranked No. 45 in the GolfStat rankings, claimed the 2014 A-Sun Championship with a plus-nine, 896 (300, 299, 297) eight shots ahead of Kennesaw State. ETSU’s Vivienne Chin finished with a 219 (+3) and took home the top individual honor with rounds of 74-72-73.
